Ghanaian match official Joseph Odartei Lamptey was on Monday banned for life by world football’s governing body FIFA for match fixing.
Odartei Lamptey was found guilty of breaching FIFA’s disciplinary code during a World Cup qualifying game between South Africa and Senegal on November 12, 2016.
“The official was found guilty of unlawfully influencing match results,” FIFA said in a statement. Zurich-based FIFA said it was dismissing charges against another Ghanaian match official David Lionheart Nii Lartey Laryea, who had also been under investigation.
“Further information concerning the South Africa v. Senegal match in question will be provided once the decision becomes final and binding,” FIFA said.
“FIFA will continue with its ongoing efforts to combat match manipulation through a variety of initiatives, which include the monitoring of international betting and a confidential reporting system with a dedicated integrity hotline and e-mail address.”

STEPHEN KESHI
"Big Boss"

Late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi popularly known as the Big Boss was born on January 23, 1962, in Azare, Bauchi state, Nigeria. Keshi died en route to hospital on the early hours of Wednesday, June 6, 2016 in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria from a heart attack. Before his demise, he was a Nigerian football player and captain. His national team career spanned from 1981 - 1995, he made 64 appearances scoring 9 goals. He was a key player of the Nigerian national team and appeared at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in USA, he played in five African Cup of Nations championships and was a part of the team that won the1994 African Cup of Nations.

He was also a football manager of the Nigerian national team from 2011 - 2015. Keshi was one of only two people, along with Egypt's Mahmoud El-Gohary to have won the Africa Cup of Nations as both a player and a coach in 1994 and 2013 respectively. The Big Boss was a solid defender in the central midfield area of the pitch during his playing days and played for African and European, mostly Belgian football clubs. He played professionally from 1979 - 1998 and made a total of 386 appearances scoring 51 goals for his clubs and country and winning 12 honours. Having finished professional playing career, Stephen Keshi got special coaching education in the USA.

He coached the Togo national team from 2004 - 2006 and led them to their first ever FIFA World Cup. Keshi also guided the Mali national team for two seasons from 2008 - 2010. At 2014 World Cup in Brazil, he headed Nigeria to the round of 16, but lost 2 - 1 to France.

It was an intriguing 90 minutes of football as Manchester United and Man City slugged it on the pitch to determine who would own the bragging rights of Manchester, England. The rivalry between these two football clubs runs down memory lane which unfolds lots of bad blood just like every other derby in the world. Derbies are always fun to watch, the tension and nail biting moments. You'd never want to wish you had an interest in any of the clubs playing on a day like this because of the kind of tension the games brings.
It was a star-studded encounter and went down in history as the most expensive derby in the world after Real Madrid and Barcelona pulled that record few years ago in Spain. The two Manchester clubs lined up their most expensive players on the starting eleven.

City however, didn't miss their first choice striker, Sergio Aguero so much. There were worries before the game as to what would become of them now that their first choice striker had been suspended for 3 games after he was found guilty for elbowing an opponent in their last game. Africa's finest young world-star player, Kelechi Ihenacho filled up the vacuum in Aguero's absent. He assisted the first goal and tapped in from closed range after his Belgian team mate Kevin de Bruyne hit the post to put City in complete control as they outclassed Mourinho's Manchester United for most of the opening 45 minutes. Kevin de Bruyne had also scored earlier in the 15th minute.
United were handed a lifeline just before the break when City's debutant keeper Claudio Bravo summed up his desperately uncertain display by dropping a free-kick to allow Zlatan Ibrahimovic to pull a goal back.
They mounted an aerial siege in front of the Stretford End but City held firm to maintain their position at the top of the table, coming closest to scoring when De Bruyne struck an upright from Leroy Sane's pass.
It still seemed remarkable that nobody scored in the second half that had been played at a furious gallop, with both sides creating plenty of chances.
Kelechi Ihenacho who also scored in his last game for Nigeria against Tanzania in a CAF Cup Of Nations qualifier, has scored 13 out of 19 shots on target for his club Manchester City, most of the goals were scored few minutes to the end of the match when he came on from the bench.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is asked about a potential move to Manchester United on a Facebook chat
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has called for patience from fans waiting on a decision about his future but admits he is still enjoying media speculation about his next destination.

On Monday, Ibrahimovic promised to make a big announcement on Tuesday, which the 34-year-old said would "be this summer's big bomb."

But the Swede was clearly teasing everyone as the only announcements he made related to his new line of clothing called A-Z Sportswear.

                                                          ''summer's big bomb."
But during a Facebook Q&A that followed in Paris, Ibrahimovic was asked by one brave football supporter whether he could "announce and confirm" if he would be going to Manchester next season.

"There is no confirmation," replied the Swede, who mistook the supporter for a journalist.

Ibrahimovic guided PSG to four championships in a row, winning the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award a record three times.

Despite not being able to help PSG win the Champions League the Sweden captain said it was the right moment to call time on his career in the French capital

"If I wanted, I could've stayed five more years," he added. "There comes a point where you've done everything. Mission accomplished.potofafrica.tv

Rooney has been rewarded after 12 years with the club following a £20m move from Goodison Park in 2004

Mourinho's first game in charge of United will be the Wayne Rooney testimonial

And Mourinho said: "Wayne is and has been England's best player for over a decade and this game will be a fitting tribute to everything he has achieved.

"I'm looking forward to what will be a very special night for us both. I'm sure the fans will make this a memorable occasion and help Wayne to raise a lot of money to help support vulnerable children."

The match will mark the beginning of a year of fundraising events by the new Wayne Rooney Foundation, aimed at raising £5m for disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

27 year old South Africa national team captain and goal keeper Senzo Meyiwa, who was shot dead at his girlfriend's home by unknown gunmen last Sunday October 25th, was laid to rest today November 1st at the Heroes Acre Chesterfield cemetery - an honor that is usually reserved for outstanding figures from the struggle against apartheid.

About 30,000 South Africans gathered at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to bid the goalkeeper farewell. The funeral comes a day after it was announced that a suspect has been arrested and charged for his murder. He is survived by three children. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Meyiwa had captained South Africa in their first four African Nations Cup qualifiers over the last two months without conceding a goal.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria this evening October 25th beat Cameroon 2-0 to win the 9th African Women Championship 2014 which took place in Namibia. Football stars Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala gave Nigeria the victory after scoring the two goals in the match. This will be the 7th time Nigeria has clinched the title. Thanks girls!!

Super Falcons Asisat Oshoala was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

PARIS -- Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho expressed his delight after Jose Mourinho praised his performance in the recent Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Mourinho told Telefoot in a recent interview that Carvalho, 36, had played like he was 26 during the 1-1 draw with the defending French champions earlier this month.
The centre-back, who played for Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid, was full of praise for the Blues boss after Portugal's 2-1 defeat to France on Saturday.
"Jose said that? I have a great relationship with Mourinho," he said. "He coached me for eight years and he is special for me. He is the best man. He is the kind of coach who always tells the truth and for me that is important, so I am grateful that I was playing for him for such a long time. It is good to hear that he saw that and still feels that way about me even now."
Carvalho was making his return for Portugal at the Stade de France, having retired from international duty in 2011.

Ricardo Carvalho made his return to international action against France on Saturday.

"I spoke with the coach [Fernando Santos] and I told him that I felt I could help, so I said yes that he can call me because I am ready to help," he said.
There had been a story -- firmly denied by the Portuguese Football Federation -- that Cristiano Ronaldo had told Carvalho to apologise for quitting before he could be brought back into the squad.
There certainly did not appear to be any animosity between the pair, with Carvalho saying of his former Madrid teammate: "Ronaldo is our flag. He is the best."

Abuja (NAN) – Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday in Calabar started the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on a bad note.
The Super Eagles lost 2-3 to the Congolese Red Devils,  who are now placed second in Group A behind South Africa.
Eagles opened scoring in the 14th-minute of the game but Prince Onianguedrew level for the visitors three minutes later.
Thievy Biofouma made it 1-2 in the 40th- minute before adding the third goal through a penalty kick early in the second half to make it 1-3.
Eagles pulled one back through Gbolahan Salami in the 89th-minute but it was not enough to earn the Eagles any point.
The Coach Stephen Keshi-tutored team will now hope to make-up for the home loss when they travel to Cape Town on Wednesday to play Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Bafana Bafana lead Group A with three points followed by Congo still on three points but with a lesser goal margin.
Eagles are third in the group, while Sudan is at the bottom of the log having lost 0-3 to South Africa in Omdurman, Sudan, on Friday.

The pressure was heaped on Luiz Felipe Scolari after Brazil’s 3-0 loss to Holland in the World Cup. Photo: Daily Mail Luiz Felipe Scolari has resigned his duties as the head coach of Brazil after falling to win a trophy for the host country. Brazil recorded their second World Cup defeat in five days. The host country suffered the heaviest loss in semi-final history after they were humiliated by the Winners of the tournament Germany in a 7 – 1 defeat and a 3 – 1 loss to the Netherlands in the third place play-offs. Brazil became the first country to lose on home soil since 1940. Although it’s yet to be confirmed, reports from the Brazilian media are reporting that he was sacked. Scolari was first appointed Manager of Brazil in 2001 but resigned after the 2002 World cup in Korea/Japan before coming back to take up the coaching role in 2012....

Brazilian striker Neymar has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2014 World Cup after suffering a fractured vertebrae during Brazil's quarter-final match against Colombia yesterday.

Brazilian Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed the unfortunate news to Brazil's SportTV:
"Neymar had a scan, which confirmed he had fractured his third vertebra. It's not serious in the sense that it doesn't need surgery, but he’s in pain and he’ll need to immobilise it to recover. He’ll have to have it immobilised with a belt for a few weeks to be able to get back to full mobility. Unfortunately, he's not going to be able to play." he said
Neymar, who suffered the injury after colliding with another player, was carried off in tears on a stretcher towards the end of their 2-1 victory over Colombia. He will be unable to play for about a month, ruling him out of Tuesday's semi-final against Germany.
